I'm ALIVE

Hey guys, it's Maddy!
I can't believe how long it's been since the last time I posted.. wow! I really haven't been doing much of anything hobby related lately, I've been in a slump. I tried writing a few posts but it was no fun and I couldn't figure out anything interesting to post. I've been really busy with the real horses, rodeo and photography, but I recently got a breyer I've been waiting on for a while and it's kinda helped me out of the slump!

Meet, Fontana! She's been a grail of mine for years and you rarely ever see her up for sale, but a few months ago my friend posted on instagram that he was selling some of his collection, and low and behold there was Fontana! He allowed me to work a partial trade so I was able to get her.

I'm obsessed with how well she photographs. 😍 Of course she'll be a performance horse, so as soon as I got her I had to tack her up!

First thing I did was put a roper type saddle and rider on her, she looks smashing in red and black.

Geez, cowboy, don't text and ride!
Next I put her in some gaming tack, green and black are my favorite colors, but it just didn't really pop on her.

So after that, I changed some of the tack and tried hot pink, bam! She looks killer

While I had her tacked up, I played around with some photography and editing, really like how some of them turned out..

After playing around with Fontana it got me motivated to finish some customs, really proud of how they turned out!
First one finished was this paint mare with a resculpted mane..

I don't usually like doing paints because of all the layers of white, but I took my time with this this girl and really love her!

Next custom was a blue roan mare, with hair by hair roan details all over her body! It's been a while since I did a hair by hair roan and I forgot how long they take! But, really happy with the outcome.

I also have a commission that is close to being finished, hopefully I can finish it in the next few days, and maybe do a blog post on it?

Last thing is this little cross country saddle that's been sitting on my work table for a few months, I think as soon as I finish the racing commission I need to get it done, and maybe paint a horse to go with it!

Any color suggestions for the horse?

Thanks for reading guys, I think I'm getting out of the slump I've been in, so you'll be hearing from me more often now!

Fun with Photography

I'll admit... This post is pretty much a shameless plug for my Model Horse RPG account on Instagram. Basically you post as if you were a real stable. In the beginning I posted a lot of photos on my general model horse account, but decided that my followers over there wanted to see more then basically performance photos.

Anyway, here are the photos!

RRS Rising Star free lunging.
RRS Here Comes Dat Boi and RRS Northern Downpour going out to the pasture.
RRS Hammerstead was nervous with being tacked up.
RRS Dat Boi going out for a ride.

That moment when you ride your green pony bridle less and she spooks at a dog.
High Plains Drifter lunging...
Two of my lovely stallions wearing their custom River Ridge Stud blankets.

Horses enjoying some time in the paddock.
A disagreement in the mare pasture.
High Plains Drifter out riding...

Last but not least, Tonka going for a hand walk.

I hope you enjoyed! I had lots fun taking these, and if you wanna see more follow my stable account @river.ridge.stud!

Breyerfest Experience

Well, I finally got to go to Breyerfest!! I had such an amazing time, got a lot of awesome models, met many people I look up to, and made a few friends!

Emma and her mom picked up my mom and I, and we drove the 12 hours to Lexington on Thursday

Emma and her mom made the car look awesome..

Breyerfest money!!

Don't worry, Emma had much more $ than that ;)

Finally, breyerfest!!

Lots of pretty horses!

Both real, and models..

My squad for the weekend.. ♥
Me, Emma, Heidi, Lauren

I got to meet artist Shana Bobbit, I have multiple horses from her and have know her for a long time, so it was amazing to finally get to meet her! :D

We went to the Instagram meet, that was fun!

Finally met Taylor Ouzts, an artist I've looked up to and collected her work for years!!

All of the breyerfest staff were so helpful, they really know how to make it run smoothly!

We went to a few of the museums..

Not sure who the lady in the black is that photo bombed... ;)

Photo shoot back at the Clarion with some of our new models!

Thanks Breyerfest for a great experience, see you next year!!

Stable Growth

This post is a little overdue but... I have been super lucky in being able to trade tack sets to very talented finishwork artists. I recently received the second horse I was expecting and now I shall share them!

The first horse is a Keltic Salinero painted and haired by Dust Art Studios. (Marchella Branderhorst)

In addition to painting him and hairing him Marchella also resculpted his nose to portray the Kladruber breeds very roman profile.

His eyes are goregous!

I love the way she styled his mane, the curls really do him justice!

The next horse is a stock horse mare resculpted to a trotting gelding by Laura Rock Smith, I purchased him early this year and recently sent him to the amazing Long's Custom Studios! (Courtney Long)

I purchased the resculpt because it is the spitting image of one of my favorite horses ever, Chief.

That brand! It's all in the details.

I really love the nice even, collected, working trot, and the happy expression on his face.

Courtney did an absolutely stunning job painting him and I couldn't be happier.

I could take photos of him all day...

I can't wait for my next show, I'm probably going to be trying to show him in every class!

I hope ya'll enjoyed the post, hopefully I'll get back in the swing of things and post a little more!
