First was the Arabian section. The entire museum is truly amazing and everything was so detailed and interactive. It started with some life-sized carvings of Arabian mares.
They were super realistic and it was like at any minute they would prance off! She does kinda remind me of a certain Proud Arabian though... ;)
The human handlers and the tack were very nice too.
Another nice set! The foal was so cute! The handler was creepy in this one though.
So adorable! Up next was a case of hand carved wooden horses. They were about traditional scale. |
This made the collector in me squee, especially with the tack! My favorite was probably the black overo, though.
There were a few larger ones (think Camilla size) in separate cases, but I only managed to get a photo of this one.
The last case of miniatures was this one. So cool!
My mom was trying to figure out what type of horse this was... xD
Another super cool area was the trophy area. There were so many trophies and plates!
So shiny!
There was also the skeleton of the famous racehorse Lexington. It was actually really cool! I've never seen a real horse skeleton so it was very interesting. Maybe a bit morbid... But I didn't mind.
Last but certainly not least was Secratariat's display. This gave me chills, and it included his tack, his silks, and some of his awards.
Overall the International Museum Of The Horse is a must see for horse fans. Like I said we only got through a tiny portion of the museum before having to leave. We didn't get to go in the Saddlebred museum either. Next time I am in KY I plan to spend more time there! :D
